The following project was a collaboration between myself and my colleagues Haylee Strachan and Curtis Dwyer. The task: to create a way-finding system for Baycrest Hospital; a hospital that specializes in treating geriatric patients suffering from cognitive disabilities. This hospital posed a unique challenge as it was under constant construction. This frequently changing environment lead to a very disorienting and frustrating experience for residents, hospital workers and family members. Our goal was to not only create a system that could inform any individual of where they needed to go, but also to create a system that could adapt and conform to the ever changing layout. Watch the video we created and read the report below to see how we informed our design decisions.
